Choosing a mattress

What size mattress do I need?

Measure the inside of your bed frame, width and length, then match it to our size guide. Go by the frame rather than your old mattress, as mattresses flatten and spread over time.

What's the difference between UK and Euro sizes?

UK sizes are based on feet and European sizes on centimetres, so they don't quite match. A Euro double is 140 x 200 cm, while a UK double is 135 x 190 cm. Many flat-pack frames are Euro sized, so measure before you order.

Which firmness should I choose?

Side sleepers usually like medium-soft to medium, back sleepers medium to medium-firm, and front sleepers something firmer. Heavier builds often prefer a firmer, more supportive mattress.

Memory foam, pocket sprung or hybrid?

Memory foam moulds to you and soaks up movement. Pocket springs feel bouncier and more breathable. Hybrids combine the two, with springs underneath and foam on top.

What's best for a child?

Most children sleep well on a medium to medium-firm mattress that supports them as they grow. For bunks and raised beds, depth matters too, so check the maximum line on the frame.

Delivery

How quickly will my mattress arrive?

Most of our mattresses can be delivered the next working day (Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays). Each mattress page shows its own delivery time, and we'll email tracking details once it's on its way.

Will my mattress arrive rolled or flat?

It depends on the mattress, and each mattress page tells you which. Rolled mattresses come compressed in a box that's easy to carry up stairs: you can sleep on one after a few hours, and it reaches full shape within 24 to 72 hours. Flat mattresses arrive fully wrapped and ready to use straight away.

How much is delivery?

Delivery is free to UK mainland addresses. Our delivery policy explains delivery to the rest of the UK, and we always show any charge at checkout, before you pay.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. We'll email you tracking details as soon as your mattress leaves the warehouse.

How do I unbox a rolled mattress?

Carry the box to the room it's going in, lay the mattress on the bed frame and carefully cut away the plastic. It starts to unroll straight away. Give it a few hours before sleeping on it, and 24 to 72 hours to reach its full shape.

Returns and problems

Can I change my mind?

Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to tell us, and a further 14 days to send it back. See our delivery and returns page for the full details.

My mattress arrived damaged. What now?

Contact us with your order number and a photo, and we'll arrange a replacement or refund. Your statutory rights aren't affected.

What if it develops a fault?

Get in touch with your order number and a description of the fault. We'll arrange a repair, replacement or refund. Any guarantee shown on the mattress page applies on top of your legal rights.

Bunk beds and kids

How deep can a bunk bed mattress be?

It depends on the bed. Look for the maximum mattress line marked on the frame or in the instructions, then choose a mattress that's the same depth or less. Most bunk beds take a mattress up to about 15 to 16 cm deep.

Can I use any single mattress on a top bunk?

Not always. Many standard single mattresses are 20 cm deep or more, which can sit above the safety line. Our bunk bed mattresses are slim enough for most raised beds.

Do you sell trundle mattresses?

Yes. Trundle drawers need thin mattresses, often 10 to 12 cm deep. Measure the space in the drawer, including its height, before ordering.

Looking after your mattress

How often should I turn my mattress?

Rotate it head to toe every few weeks for the first three months, then every three months after that. Check the mattress page, as some are designed to be rotated but not flipped.

Do I need a mattress protector?

We'd recommend one. It keeps spills and sweat out of the mattress and is much easier to wash.

How long should a mattress last?

Around 7 to 10 years for most mattresses. Replace it sooner if it's sagging, lumpy, or you're not sleeping as well as you used to.
